INVESTING IN SURREY SIMON FRASER UNIVERSITY CAMPUS
November 8, 2016
SURREY, BC – Today the Federal Government announced funding of $45 million towards a new energy systems engineering building at Simon Fraser University. Randeep Sarai, MP issued the following statement following the announcement for funding:

“One of the first projects that I began working on a year ago when I was elected to represent Surrey-Centre was to work with my colleagues Minister of Innovation, Navdeep Bains, and Provincial Minister of Advanced Education, Andrew Wilkinson, along with SFU President, Andrew Petter, to ensure that they recognize the importance that SFU plays in our community and acknowledge that Surrey is the youngest and fastest growing community in BC.”

“Similarly, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is someone who believes that post-secondary education, innovation, green energy and the environment are vital to growing our economy and creating better communities for today and future generations.”

“Prime Minister Trudeau is leading a government that recognizes the importance of institutions that allow people to live, work and study in their own communities and I believe that today’s announcement accomplishes just that.”

“Our Government recognizes Surrey’s explosive growth, its young demographics and its importance in leading industry through innovation. That is why this government is investing so much here in Surrey, in British Columbia and across Canada.”
