Member of Parliament for Surrey Centre
ONE YEAR LATER.
October 19, 2016

It is hard to believe that today marks the one year anniversary of the 2015 Federal Election. I have no other words than to say, ‘thank you’. A year ago, voters and constituents sent me to be Surrey’s voice in Ottawa and for that I will be forever grateful.

This couldn’t have been possible without the support of my family, friends and volunteers who spent countless hours with me at the doors, on the phones and at countless local events talking with voters to hear about what mattered to them most.

If there is anything that I have learned through this experience, it is that dialogue is important – in the year since the last federal election we have held a number of town halls, consultations and round tables with Surreyites from all walks of life and backgrounds. I’ve also learned that I cannot succeed in my role unless I know what you would like to see from your federal government, that said, I’d like to thank each and every one of you that has taken the time to write, call, Facebook or tweet me.

I am immensely proud of all that our government has accomplished over the past year not only for Canadians, but as well as for British Colombians and Surreyites. Whether it’s the action that we took giving a tax break for the middle class, the new Canada Child Benefit or the various infrastructure projects across British Columbia or right here in Surrey that our government is investing in – we have and are taking concrete steps to create real change right across the country.   While we have accomplished a lot in this past year – there is always more work to do. We know that better is always possible and it is this motto that governs each day that I have the privilege of being your Member of Parliament. My promise to you is that I will work each day striving to make Surrey the very best place to call home in Canada.

Yours truly,

Randeep
